There’s lots more to the Czech Republic than Prague. While Prague is undeniably one of Europe’s loveliest cities, it’s worth making time for some out-of-town excursions to see something of the Czech Republic too.
Dotted with tucked-away castles, historic small towns and pretty Hansel-and-Gretel houses, the Czech countryside has plenty to offer – like medieval Karlstejn Castle, built to house the Roman Empire’s crown jewels and just 30 minutes from Prague by train.
Spires, squares and statues help make Prague a stunner. You can’t beat a sunset stroll across the Charles Bridge – one of Eastern Europe’s iconic sights.
Today’s Prague is not surprisingly a draw for culture-hungry tourists (not to mention the weekend party crowd), and savvy city lovers come here out of season or in winter (when crisp blue skies set everything off a treat) to see it at its best.
