Tailor-made for romantics, the lantern-lit , tented rooftop restaurant at Melenos Lindos is a treat – you’ll love the views of the bay with its twinkling lights below. Dishes are inspired by Greek and Mediterranean traditions, and include favourites such as meze dishes, kleftiko and fresh seafood.

Two natural harbours flank the rocky outcrop on which the old town of Lindos – all cobblestones and narrow streets – is built. Do take a walk up to the ancient hill behind Melenos Lindos, though donkeys are on hand if needed. There are great sandy beaches where you can try water skiing, wakeboarding and parasailing. Take a boat trip along the coast with a picnic lunch for a great day out.

If history is your thing, the island of Rhodes is crammed with Roman, Greek and Turkish remains. Rhodes city has the Temple of Venus and some good museums, as well as the medieval Street of the Knights, a cobbled street linking the acropolis with the port.
