Astarte Suites

SET ON A DRAMATIC CLIFFTOP  in glamorous Santorini, Astarte Suites boasts million-dollar views of the island’s famous caldera. This all-suite boutique getaway is made for decadent down time.

Spectacular views are just part of the appeal of the nine spacious but intimate Astarte Suites, created to complement their dramatic setting in soothing shades of tropical white and natural stone with splashes of deep Aegean blue. It’s all made for blissful unwinding – and we were soon doing exactly that around the cliff-edge infinity pool. 

Our Junior suite charmed with cool tiled floors and a muslin draped bed, while our private terrace was made for dining à deux where we could gaze at the achingly blue Aegean Sea ringed by its volcanic caldera. The magic here is in the detailing: clock the generous Jacuzzi bathtubs fringed with lanterns and fat candles, whose domed ceilings are studded with Swarovski stones that twinkle like stars.

Cave suite comforts

Inside our king-bedded Santorini-style cave suite, we found all life’s essential 21st century comforts: aircon, wireless internet, satellite TV and a CD/MP3 player, as well as a minibar, walk-in shower and cushiony seats for lounging. There was even isoclima smart window glass that – like sunglasses – darkens in bright sunlight.  Executive suites come with outdoor hot tubs, while three delectable honeymoon suites boast a huge terrace, outdoor lounge and – in one – a private plunge pool.

Everything at Astarte Suites is designed with privacy and personalised service in mind. Breakfast is brought to your suite, and most guests dine on their terrace to soak up those second-to-none views. For more sociable unwinding, you can top up your tan around the turquoise pool overlooking the island’s vertiginous cliffs and have a cooling drink or light bite at the poolside Morning Star bar. There’s also the chic Lava Lounge upstairs – a great spot for cocktails or a nightcap.

Guests at Astarte Suites are whisked to their quarters with complimentary airport transfers, with treats on arrival including champagne and fresh fruit.  Can’t-do-enough staff are happy to help arrange car hire, sightseeing, boat excursions or massage treatments. If you’re missing the buzz and bustle of town, you’re just ten minutes away from Fira by car.
