NO.1 PERY SQUARE
Lavish townhouse living in a leafy corner of LimerickWITH ITS LAVISH ROLLTOP BATHS, lush urban spa and secluded Zen garden, One Pery Square in up-and-coming Limerick is making designer waves with its
head-turning mix of classic and contempo-cool.
This listed Georgian townhouse in the city’s historic Tontine buildings has been turned into a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Limerick. Set on a quiet, tree filled square, it’s just
minutes from the city’s buzzy bars and shopping district.
Some impressive restoration work has preserved the building’s elegant features and lofty Georgian rooms, giving it a
sleek classic-contemporary feel. Just clock the original cornicing, pillared fireplaces, fabulous mirrors, big brass doorknockers, modish velvet sofas and fat white candles. It’s the best thing in Limerick since… ice cream, probably.
Guests can choose from individually designed classic Georgian bedrooms or more contemporary Club rooms. Step back in time in the four
huge period rooms, whose extravagant French style big beds and rolltop baths for two – with plenty of candles to light for a lazy, twilight soak – overlook the park across the street. Creamy colours and plush drapes set it all off beautifully.
Hit the spot
Beside a leafy square in buzzy Limerick.
Bedtime
We loved the Vanderkiste room – one of the hotel’s Georgian set – with its leafy park views and gorgeous rolltop bath for two.
Be savvy
It’s tranquil here but only minutes from the action.
Be smitten
You’ll soon see why Irish eyes are smiling.
Gunmetal grey
Contemporary rooms trade the period pastels for more modish shades of chocolate, rust and gunmetal grey. There’s also a penthouse suite for a serious splash-out. Whichever room type you opt for you’ll find
super-comfy big beds and feather down duvets, and roomy bathrooms – some with twin basins – well stocked with pampering stuff. Pick some music from the in-house CD collection and order breakfast in bed if you fancy.
After a drink in the hotel’s bar, you’ll want to check out the dinner menu at One Pery Square’s French style Brasserie One, with its
mink-coloured leather chairs and attractive prints. Pop in for a great-value pre-theatre menu or go the full a la carte.
You could also
bliss out in One Pery Square’s very own urban spa – a restorative retreat with a menu of organic spa treatments and a secluded Zen garden. If the healthy option is not your thing, you might catch a tasting in the hotel’s Wine room. Hospitable, and helpful staff will ensure you’re well looked after.
Limerick is a
great base from which to explore the Shannon region. There are “street ambassadors” to help tourists around, plenty of nightlife and the village of Adare – one of the prettiest in the West of Ireland – is just a few miles away.
