Kim Burelli has worked with world renowned chefs like Raymond Blanc, so it’s no surprise her cooking is top-notch. Fresh, simple home cooking is the order of the day here. The menu varies daily, though favourites include fillet of beef with green peppercorn and brandy sauce. Unusually for Italy vegetarians are catered for, with dishes like roasted vegetable tarte tatin with a pesto drizzle.

The surrounding area is home to a number of ancient and interesting towns. Visit the medieval castle ruins and church of Santa Maria in Ortezzano, then head off 14th century Monsanpietro to see the works of art in the 17th century church of saints Peter and Paul.
