Built in the 14th century as a home for the steward of the nearby San Maffio convent, Ca’ Maffio has been beautifully restored to its former splendour by Venetian family owners Nicolo and Giulia. Behind its typically Trevisan arched façade, it’s now a pretty little boutique hotel with just four pretty bedrooms.

There’s golfing 10km away in Mogliano at 18th century Villa Condulmer, and you can bike or ramble along the banks of the Sile river – rich in bird and plant life. Your hosts can also arrange a boat ride past old mills, small hamlets and aristocratic villas.
