Swish ski resorts, flower-strewn mountain meadows and awesome views make the Swiss Alps a winner – whether it's for playtime on the slopes in winter or a fresh-air fest in spring or summer. This is a place to recharge and revitalise in style.
MUST SEE, MUST DO
French-speaking Geneva is beautifully situated near the Alps on Lake Geneva. Catch a moulette water taxi across to the old town to visit St Peter’s Cathedral and the old market square at Place du Bourg-de-Four.
The name Verbier conjures up images of a winter paradise of skiing, snowshoeing and cosying up with a fondue in a wooden chalet, but in summer the Four Valleys ski area is just as fun for active romantic breaks with scenic valleys ideal for hiking and awesome views of Mont Blanc. Don’t miss the breathtaking Grand-St-Bernard pass where you’ll meet the famous friendly dogs.
Framed by a backdrop of the Alps, Zurich is the place to head for a city break with exciting nightlife and plenty to fill the daytime, as it's home to over 100 art galleries, strings of designer boutiques and 50 museums. There's riverside bathing here for the brave in summer.
Famous as a winter sports destination, St Moritz is also the gateway to the Swiss National Park and the mountain lake hiking trails on the Corvatsch. As well as the scenery, golf addicts can indulge their habit here and there are plenty of luxurious spa options for soothing ski-strained muscles.
