Macakizi Hotel - Review
SET AGAINST THE CLIFFS of Turkbuku Bay – a cool little place just outside Bodrum – Macakizi looks right out over the sapphire blue Mediterranean. Shady jetties perfect for lounging and lunching hug the water’s edge.
Laced with bougainvillea, Macakizi’s lush gardens spill down to the water’s edge, where chic wooden decks set with sun loungers serve as a beach. With a bar, huge cream cushions for laidback lolling and obliging staff to bring you cocktails or a cooling beer, this is where it’s at.
Airy, white-on-white rooms set into the hillside are modern and minimalist with a beach club vibe. Palest vanilla white walls and fabrics are set off by blonde wood and bursts of colour, while Turkish rugs and artworks dotted around lend an air of pared-down sophistication. Bathrooms are stocked with luxury Aqua di Parma body products, and there’s complimentary wi-fi and flatscreen TVs.
Suites are just a few steps from the sea, and most have a balcony or terrace with mouth-watering bay views. Not that you will be tempted to spend too many days in your room. The scene at Macakizi is very much around the waterside decks, where you can lunch, lounge and watch the sun go down spectacularly – or simply mingle with your A-list fellow guests.
Don’t miss the chance to dine al fresco at Macakizi’s terraced waterside restaurant – slung with shady canvas sails and arguably the best in Bodrum. Expect first-rate Turkish and Mediterranean cooking with incomparable views of Turkbuku Bay. Things heat up after dark with DJ dance music and a party scene in the bar.
