BOUTIQUE HOTEL ELEGANCE meets funky private retreat at Windermere Suites. With double jacuzzi baths and every comfort indoors plus the Lake District on your doorstep, this is a place for spoiling and seclusion.
Eight individual and lavishly appointed suites at this five star guesthouse deliver hands-down on seductive style, minutes from the shores of Lake Windermere. Forget traditional Lakeland cheery chintz – this is all metropolitan chic and super-cool bathrooms.
All eight Windermere Suites score on luxe and cosseting comfort. Expect designer furniture, chromatherapy mood lighting, 42 inch wall-mounted TVs, underfloor heating and – best of all – an oversize double jacuzzi bath for decadent soaks à deux. Three suites – Coniston, Bowness and Ambleside – have an outside terrace, while two (Keswick and Cartmel) have high lofted ceilings and Juliet balconies.
Hit the spot
Minutes from Lake Windermere in the Lake District.
Bedtime
Sprawling Coniston is the biggest suite, while Hawkshead is fully carpeted. Coniston, Bowness and Ambleside each have a terrace.
Be savvy
There are no lake views, but you’re very close to Lake Windermere.
Be smitten
Lavishness in the Lakes.
Bathtime for two
Named after towns in the Lake district, each suite has a separate living area, with black walnut flooring, a hand crafted super-king bed and iPod docking station. Bathrooms are palatial, decked out with Italian glass tiling, oversize showerheads and a tile TV to watch from your jacuzzi bath for two. Naturally there’s free wi-fi and a well stocked minibar, as well as fluffy robes and pampering potions.
Favourite suites include Coniston – a sprawling 460 sq ft complete with hand made silver leaf super-king bed, Philippe Starck furnishings, fibre optic fire and private patio. Hawkshead – carpeted throughout – is another big fave.
Breakfast is served in-suite each morning, so look forward to a late lie-in. There’s no need to dress for dinner, either – just order supper or some light bites from the room service menu. For a more formal meal, simply pop next door to sister property The Howbeck, whose restaurant serves a range of modern British dishes.
Romance is alive and well at Windermere Suites. Treats you can pre-order range from champagne on ice and strawberries dipped in chocolate to a Naughty package complete with raunchy dice and tickling feather. Say no more.

See & Do
If you can drag yourselves away from your suite, the best of the Lake District is on your doorstep. Windermere village is two minutes from here, while Bowness is an easy stroll. Keswick and Kendal are easily reached by car, as are Ambleside, Grasmere, Hawkshead, Coniston, Cartmel and Patterdale.
There’s fantastic fell walking around here, though you don’t need to be a diehard rambler to enjoy the many trails and footpaths. Beatrix Potter fans can visit her former home at Hill To, or take a cruise on lake Windemere. Also worth seeing are Rydal Mount near Ambleside, poet William Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage at Grasmere and the Ruskin motor museum at Coniston.
Spa
Windermere Suites guests have free access to the Old England Spa just a short distance away. There is everything there from an indoor pool to eight treatments rooms and a fully equipped gym.
