Lavish little London townhouse in smartest Knightsbridge

THIS CHIC PIED DE TERRE in swanky Knightsbridge overlooks a pretty tree-lined square, and can justly claim to be a perfect little hotel in a perfect place. No wonder The Beaufort has been showered in awards.

Art lovers will be in heaven here – the world’s largest collection of English watercolour paintings adorns the walls. Although you’re in the heart of the capital, The Beaufort has all the laid-back charm of a country house, and you’ll be quite happy to spend hours curled up in the lounge on a sumptuous sofa, only moving to help yourself to a complimentary glass of bubbly from the residents’ bar.

Impeccably done out rooms are stocked with little extras like complimentary chocolates and biscuits. Feel like a breath of fresh air and a touch of culture? Staff are ready to advise on anything from theatre tickets to personal shopping, while the V&A, Science and Natural History museums are a just short stroll away.

Illustrious guest list

We loved our Junior suite, with its massive bed, comfy seating areas and posh Escada smellies in a well-kitted marble bathroom. Illustrious names evidently adore this discreet Knightsbridge townhouse., and you can see why.

Breakfast is brought to your room, so you can nibble your croissants without stirring. Complimentary afternoon tea is a no-holds-barred affair with home-made strawberry jam, fresh scones and clotted Devonshire cream. Still peckish? You’re minutes from a host of superb eateries, not to mention the famous Harrods food hall.

There’s no restaurant on site, but you can be a glutton in the afternoon when complimentary cream teas are served. Tuck into freshly baked scones, cream and jam.

Must-dos in this locality include shopping at Harrods and Harvey Nicks, strolling through Hyde Park, taking a boat ride on the Serpentine and seeing an exhibition at the mighty V&A, Science or Natural History museums.
