Rooms are drenched in natural light from large picture windows and skylights. Kingsize beds are dressed in crisp Egyptian cotton and fine English wool throws. Bathrooms blend rain showers and striking copper rolltop baths with handmade soaps and bath oils from Branche d’Olive. You’ll also find a 50 inch TV, Wi-fi and fresh milk delivered to your door daily to brew up a tea or coffee.
We loved the two Stag rooms, complete with private patios and their own private outdoor hot tubs.
Eat & Drink
Look forward to first-rate British cuisine here, using the best local producers. Fed and reared in the South Downs, the Funtington Farm pork belly is about as fresh as you can get. Fresh free-range eggs come from Hallgate Farm just down the road, while fruit and veg come from local family firm Munneries.
Be sure to try succulent Selsey lobster and crab with delicious frites from the White Horse's Nyetimber lobster van in summer – washed down, of course, with a glass of local Nyetimber British bubbly.
Served until 10am. Start the day with a hearty full English, with freshest free range eggs.

See & Do
Strike out on a bracing walk in the South Downs – dogs are welcome at the White Horse, so you won't need to leave Fido at home. Try your hand at croquet in the gardens or go kite surfing on nearby beaches. One of Britain's flagship theatres, Chichester Festival Theatre, is just a short drive away if you're after a cultural fix, while there are regular race fixtures at Goodwood, Hickstead and Fontwell.
