ESCAPE BOUTIQUE B AND B
Cool boutique B&B in vintage Victorian LlandudnoTHIS BRILLIANT LITTLE BOUTIQUE B&B has brought a
dash of élan to sleepy seaside Llandudno in North Wales. Step inside a grand Victorian villa and say hello to leather sleigh beds, suede chairs and Conran love seats.
Hip and historic are artfully matched at Escape B&B, whose design-savvy owners Sam and Gaenor have clearly had great fun rooting around for signature retro furniture and statement-making wall fabrics. Now firmly established as the town’s first contemporary boutique B&B, it mixes
charm and period detail with punchy urban cool.
Polished bare wood floors and cool neutrals contrast with
oak panelling and a huge original stained glass window in the guest lounge, where you can sink into a Conran sofa, select a DVD from the extensive library or watch any number of satellite stations on the huge 42 inch plasma TV and pour yourselves a drink from the honesty bar.
Hit the spot Where Snowdonia meets the sea, in seaside Llandudno.
Pillow Talk Room 1 brags a kingsize leather bed, double width shower and mountain views, while Room 6 has a hand-made French boudoir Rococo bed.
Be savvy Some bathrooms have hand-held showers, though all have plenty of fluffy towels.
Be smitten A place for lavish Llandudno lie-ins.
Individually Designed Rooms Each of Escape B&B’s nine bedrooms are stylishly different, with moods ranging from modish minimalism and New York loft to French boudoir. All come with DVD players and wi-fi, with Playstations on call. Soft Egyptian cotton bedding, plumped-up pillows,
gleaming chrome and glass bathrooms and Aveda toiletries rack up the comfort factor.
Many have wonderful views over the town, shoreline and the Welsh mountains beyond. Spacious Room 1 has
fantastic views, a kingsize leather bed, faux fur throw and huge shower. Go retro in Room 5, with its 1970s lighting, drench shower, black leather headboard and charcoal and red colourways.
Get into romantic mode in Room 6 – The Boudoir – with its curvy French Rococo bed and huge shower. Or spend a loved-up night in the French Capitone bed of Room 8, where you can
soak in a deep roll-top bath open to the bedroom – very ooh-la-la. An antique armoire adds to the glam factor. We also loved loft-style Room 9, with its mezzanine bedroom and rooftop window made for stargazing at night.
Look forward to divine breakfasts – a feast of
fresh fruit and cooked-to-order mains – with great views of the gardens and beyond. Escape’s can’t-do-enough team will go the extra mile to make your stay extra special.
You’re centre stage in Llandudno here – just a
short walk from the seafront, shops and vintage Victorian pier. With Snowdonia just a short drive away, you won’t be short of places for bracing walks.
Escape B&B is the perfect little seaside bolthole: it’s cool, glam and immensely affordable. And there’s definitely nowhere quite like it in Llandudno.
